Dr Joseph Aiello

Dr Joseph Aiello, D.O.-Medical Director

Dr. Joseph Aiello was raised in Southern California and educated at UCLA where he achieved an undergraduate degree in biochemistry.   He attended Osteopathic Medical School at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Mo. and completed a Family Practice Residency at Brentwood Hospital in Cleveland, Oh. in 1991.

Dr. Aiello started in family practice in 1991 in Spring Valley.  Eventually, after practicing western medicine for 10 years, he took a course through the UCLA continuing education in medical acupuncture. Through this course he learned the skills for medical acupuncture and also about Chinese medicine. With that he learned that there were other types of medical systems in the world.

In mid-2007, Dr. Bronner Handwerger, N.D. joined his practice for one day a week. During this relationship, Dr. Aiello learned more about natural medicine and general healing of the body. Dr. Aiello has always felt that the body can heal itself. With practice using these new treatment tools, and much more continuing education, this concept became more evident as time progressed. That is now what he bases his current medical clinic on.

The body is capable of healing itself. We are here to give a road map to the patient on how to achieve that.

San Diego Center for Integrative Medicine is a unique medical clinic dedicated to helping patients heal themselves. We evaluate the patients on initial visits to determine what the patients’ issues may be. After that, we put a program in place trying to correct any of the functional issues. This program may include nutritional, hormones, physical therapy, or psychotherapy.

Dr. Aiello strongly believes that you can only treat and help a person get well when you treat all of the different aspects of that person including physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Therefore, all the staff at the San Diego Center for Integrative Medicine is integrated to help the patients achieve optimal health with respect to these different areas.
